NEW MEMBERS!!! CONGRATS
CONGRATS TO ALL NEW MEMBERS! We will be meeting the week of 4-6/4-9 from 330-500 (The week we return from spring break) to paint the backdrops for the 8th grade chorus production of Bugsy.  As a member you will be required to attend 2 of the 4 sessions.  It would be awesome if you can stay for all 4, but I realize you may have some prior obligations.  The paintings will be 4'x8'. Anyhow-your homeroom teacher will give you the forms that indicate what days you will be able to work.  Mrs Coffey and I will provide light snacks on those days.  If you have any questions, please ask!

****ON A SIDE NOTE*********
If you missed the first meeting today, but still want to join the art club, please see Ms Coffey or Ms Bailey.  You will need to submit some artwork you have created to us, by friday 3/26 for consideration.
Welcome!
We are starting a new chapter of National Junior Art Honor Society here at KMS.

This is a branch of the National Junior Honor Society, meaning students must:

  • be in 7th or 8th grade (however, we are taking 6th graders as unofficial members, so that as 7th graders they will know how the club operates)
  • maintain a "B" average and remain in good standing with the school
  • submit a portfolio for review by either Ms. Bailey or Ms. Coffey

This club is not an art club per se, where we sit around and make pictures for the sake of making pictures. The goal is to get art incorporated and raise awareness in the school environment, other subjects, and the community.

There has not been a chapter here ever, as far as I know. Its pretty exciting, in essence, the club is an academic art based community/service organization. A list of possible projects the club might do is posted below.

The cost to join will be $10.00 per year, which will cover membership fees, as well as a materials fee.

We would like to meet two times a month, Wednesdays preferably, but it is still up for discussion.

We will meet briefly Friday, August 28, 2009, in Ms. Bailey’s classroom (Room 500) during homeroom (8:00-8:30am) to hand out information and give a quick overview of the club.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Bailey or Ms. Coffey.
